The End of Life Doula’s primary function is to guide and support a dying person, family, friends, and caregivers in a way that promotes a good dying experience as defined by the dying person and those most intimately involved in the process.
A certified End of Life Doula can help with many things when one is close to the end of their life.
I chose this sacred title and deeply cherish when it calls me. I have been around death within my family and friend circle from a very young age. I have become comfortable with it, as I would like to be during my own dying process. My purpose is to make death a celebration of life for all who I cross paths with.
As an End of Life Doula, I am a companion to the dying in many ways as a Birth Doula would be. I am an advocate to ensure everything is carried out for the dying as they want exactly or as close as possible. I am there for reflection and life review of the life they lived and will be there to ask the much needed questions that reflect their journey. I help plan how they would like to live for the last months, weeks, and days of their life. I work with them deeply to hold space in both the challenging and beautiful moments.
